Top 5 News and Magazines Apps on Android in Ghana: Q3 2023

During the third quarter of 2023, the performance of the top five news and magazine apps on Android in Ghana showcased some interesting trends. The data, provided by Sensor Tower, reveals insights into weekly downloads and active users for these applications.

Twitter Lite from X Corp. saw a notable increase in weekly downloads, peaking at 7.9K in early August. However, the downloads slightly declined towards the end of September, ending the quarter with around 4.3K weekly downloads. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 3.4K and 3.7K throughout the period.

Scooper News: News Around You by Transbyte App experienced a significant surge in downloads, reaching a peak of 17.1K in mid-September. This spike was followed by a sharp decline, with the quarter closing at just over 100 weekly downloads. The active user count also saw a dramatic rise, peaking at 13.1K in mid-September before dropping to 4.7K by the end of the quarter.

CGTN – China Global TV Network, published by CGTN, had a mixed quarter. Download numbers initially hovered around 3.8K but dropped significantly to just over 50 by the end of September. Active users also declined from around 4K at the start of the quarter to approximately 860 by the end.

Opera News: breaking & local from Opera maintained consistent download numbers, averaging around 1.5K to 2K weekly downloads. Their active user base, however, showed a slight downward trend from 322K at the beginning of the quarter to around 250K by its end.

Local News: Weather & Breaking by Live.Tech exhibited fluctuating download numbers, with a peak of 3.3K in early August. The numbers dropped significantly towards the end of the quarter, ending with around 170 weekly downloads. Active users peaked at 4.9K in early August and remained relatively stable, closing the quarter with around 3.5K.
